Terpsichore: News & Updates

PRAETORIUS MEETS URBAN CONTEMPORARY DANCE

In 1612 a collection of more than 300 dances, collected and arranged by the German composer Michael Praetorius, was published. He calls the collection Terpsichore, after the muse of dance from Greek mythology. This rich collection of dance melodies from various European countries inspires choreographer Denden Karadeniz to a fascinating dance dialogue with music from 400 years ago.

This special collaboration and performance will premiere during Festival Musica Nova 1600 in Muziekgebouw aan het IJ, Amsterdam on the 19th of February.
