PAST, PRESENT, ZERO
This performance was created in 2020 during the first lock down, where time was only a vague concept. Choreographer Denden Karadeniz investigated what time meant to him in that hectic period. This created a physical narrative about the intriguing concept of time.
Past Present Zero is a fusion of innovative work and intimate arrangements. The performance is inspired by the past, present and future and has a fragmented approach. Scenes in which a duet arises between the large and small hands of a clock, the origin of time through the Sun and Moon, a figurative centrifuge of memories and a physical translation of the gods “Chronos" and "Kairos" from the Greek mythology. "Chronos" is measured and counted (Linear time), while "Kairos" is lived and experienced (Inner time). The central question is: "How does the past influence our choices today and tomorrow?”.
In Past Present Zero, nostalgia, prospect and everything in between is portrayed in an abstract and idiosyncratic way. By rewinding choreography, speeding up and slowing down movements and repetitive actions, this is translated into a pure form of urban contemporary dance.
